We each are a creative living process and we each will be changed by the experiences we have. How much we are changed by the experience we have depends on the how significant the experience is to us.

What needs to be understood is the intention we hold is determined by the perspective we hold at the time we set the intention. As we move to manifest that intention, our perspective will change. That in turn, my affect our intention and what we desire to manifest. The goal in the following discussions is to get some idea of how and why our perspective will change in a creative process and that in turn, may affect the intention we hold.

Whenever we set an intention, we carry a perspective or view about what we are observing. Our perspective and our belief structure act as the lens through which you focus our attention. Initially what you intend appears as a good idea but in reality it usually a mass of jumbled and conflicting beliefs, attitudes, opinions and the like. What needs to be understood is that independent of our personal experiences, there are many beliefs that we have been taught in life or have come to adopt about life that are actually in conflict with other. Rather than converge our focus as a convex lens our beliefs can cause our energy to scatter as a concave lense.

For example one belief in particular that many in the United States probably carry and is embedded in the US Constitution is that all men are created equal. Of course in 1776 the concept that all men were created equal sounded very good but it didn’t originally apply to women, slaves and Native Americans. So the men who framed the Constitution were living with conflicting beliefs whether they realize it or not. Over time, clarity has come as to what those words and that belief really mean to people. And of course we all have changed such that we totally embrace equality for all haven’t we? For example, what is your perspective on that subject? Do you really believe all are created equal and is that belief reflected in everything that you do or do you continue to have conflicting beliefs about the topic?

No matter how clear we think we are, when we set an intention, any intention, we are attempting to gain clarity on a particular subject or topic. If we already had total clarity on the subject what we intend would already be in our life and we would be totally familiar with it. An intention always propels us away from where we are and our current world towards that which we intend and another world where our intention is made manifest. As we gain clarity we can focus more and more of our energy into that topic. Or, our creative life energy that is being directed at that topic becomes more focused. Or, we can do both, focus a more directed attention and increase the energy to that topic. In any case, as we hold to our intention and keep a single point focus, we will manifest something faster than allowing our attention to be diverted and scattered.

To explore a little deeper understanding of the relationship of intention and perspective is appropriate to review each. The next two discussions review intentionality and perspective followed by the process of holding an intention.
