The calling is about realizing we are multidimensional beings and our actions can cut across many dimensions of reality. In this regard, there are entities in this world and in other dimensions whom we could call friends. Many of them may have an interest in what we are attempting to create and are willing to assist and/or support our efforts. The calling is where we call specific entities in the seen or unseen world to attend the ritual through the oneness of Creation and our interconnectedness with all that exists. Although we may have already called people into our life to be at the ritual, for example, as a minimum a witness, we still need to call them to attend the ritual as part of the ritual. This seals their presence as part of the ritual. It is also a way through the interconnectedness of Creation to let all interested parties to know what we are attempting to do. An alternative view is the calling, although directed outward into the unseen world, is really a call to the deepest parts of our being to call forth that which is already within us to support our actions. However we perceive the calling, whatever we do should be reflective of that understanding. It is to be noted the opening petition statement, the calling, and the invocation can be addressed in separate statements or rolled into one overall statement.
