Non denial is about being mindful and aware and not denying what arise from within but to embrace it and work with the energy giving rise to what we experience. In living our life mindfully, we must learn to not deny what arises from within. In addition to the thoughts, beliefs and fears that arise in our mind, there will be feelings and sensations that arise in the body. Society tends to teach us to judge that some things are good and some are bad, but it goes on to try and say the same about that which arises within ourselves. We need to learn to accept, not deny and not judge, all that arises from within. In particular, what we feel wants to be heard and we need to provide a space for what we feel to be heard and acknowledged. Everything that arises both in mind and body, should be embraced and, if necessary, transformed and used for growth. We may not want to act on all that arises, but we can not deny what we feel, know or otherwise sense.

To become who we truly are, we cannot deny any part of ourselves and need to get to know all those parts as they reveal themselves. If we try to deny or resist a part that is trying to express itself from within, it will slowly grow and expand until it can be experienced in such a way that it will not be controlled and contained. To have an aspect of our being sense something and then have it denied creates an irritation within our being. An irritant, is something which needs to be expressed. It gets coated again and again with energy until it gets too big and can’t be disregarded and must have attention.

To keep it contained, it will take more and more of our creative life energy to keep it suppressed until it comes out where we are most vulnerable. It is much the way a chain breaks at its weakest link. It is much easier to embrace and release the energy that is coming forth before it grows and becomes unmanageable. Disciplining ourselves to work with our thoughts and feelings is much different than suppressing them or denying them. It must be remember that the mind tends to live in the past and projecting the past into the future whereas what we feel and our physical body is of the present. We need to become aware of what energy is being presented. We need to look to see if the energy we are experiencing is of a past regret or injury that we are holding onto and continually pumping energy into by rolling it over in our mind?. Or, is the energy an expectation of the future that denies the reality of that which is? Or, is the energy a feeling or sensation telling us all is not well in the experience that we are having and something is being denied and not expressed? Only we can become aware of what is arising inside of us. Only we can stand in our nakedness, fully exposed before our creator/Creator honestly and truthfully dealing with what is inside ourselves. No one can do this for us.
