Creating the space for another

Implementing Creative Step/Guideline #14

Creative Step/Guideline #14

Background

The need to love oneself

The need to love another as ourselves

We cannot give what we do not have

Learn to become unconditional

Become a rainmaker, a dream midwife and a nanny

Creative Step/Guideline #14 (Top): Only in loving ourselves did we create the space within our being to live the truth of our being. Only in loving another as ourselves where we created the space to allow others to freely live the truth of their being could we reveal the depth and breadth of the creative power within ourselves to ourselves and others. In finding and embracing your creative power, create the space within yourself to allow yourself and others to freely find and embrace their creative power. Become a rainmaker, a dream midwife and nanny for the dreams of at least one individual, giving freely and unconditionally, without obligation or duty, whatever was required with no expectations in return. Without placing expectation on the individual in any way, they are free to unfold true to their nature at each and every level of their being. In doing that for another, you give the same gift to yourself. As a rainmaker, create the fertile space for their dream to grow inside themselves. As a dream midwife, assist in birthing that dream to take a form in the world. As a nanny, help to ensure a safe and secure space until the dream was strong enough to “stand on its own two feet” and go into the world. In doing so you give the same gift to yourself for you cannot give what you do not have.

Background (Top)

This step is a transition step. It is where you creatively grow up and leave behind your childish ways and your creative childhood. You grow out of being a child creator. It is where you are able to retain your childlike creative spirit intact and free to go out into the world yet in a way that keeps it protected and safe in what it does. It does not withdrawal or lose its ability to be in that most creative state of childlike play.

This is accomplished through compassion. Compassion as used here in the sense of the origins of the word from the Latin - com together and pati to feel, to suffer. But it is not about suffering with as most use the word today. Rather it is about feeling with another, feeling what another feels, and sharing the passion and feeling for a particular creative effort. It is to be in creative passion with another.

In this step, you become an creative adult or rather, an adult creator in the sense that compassion is a choice and in may ways is the difference between being an adult and mature as opposed to being a child. Children do not have an inherent compassion for another. Children seek self preservation and to protect oneself. They will do whatever is necessary to be nurtured. This is why one’s childlike creative spirit withdrawals to protect itself when its play is thwarted. It takes the understanding of an adult and the wisdom of experience to not shutdown and not withdrawal when one’s creative spirit is thwarted in one’s creative efforts. So this step is about creativity growing up and learning to feel and to suffer with another to create with another.

In this step you really move to become a conscious creator. Here you move into the true depth and breadth of the creative power and ability you have. One cannot being to put into worlds what you will experience in this step. In many ways, what is suggested here is becoming an adoptive parent or guardian of the creative spirit of another. In particular it is it is about becoming both its adoptive mother and its adoptive father. It is becoming an adoptive mother in the sense of nourishing the creative spirit in the way it needs to be nourished, not what you want to give it. A very big difference and one your mind will not be able to address. You will have to rely on your intuitive guidance. In this sense there it is very ego humbling if not ego destroying. Your ego will not survive this step intact. It will be broken if not shattered. You will be called to nurture the creative spirit of another that will cause you to go well beyond your ego. In doing so, you will find an unbelievable freedom and a deep realization of the incredible creative potential within each individual for you will have experience part of it yourself.

You will become an adoptive father in the sense you will be required to create a safe and protected space for the creative spirit to freely express itself and learn to stand on its own two feet. It is much the way an ideal father creates a home for the mother to nurture and raise her child. What is required here is different that nurturing the creative spirit. It is about given it the freedom to express itself in the way it needs to express itself to learn exactly who and what it is and what it is capable of doing. In essence you need to take it out into the world the way a hunter would take their son or daughter out into the world and teach them how to hunt.

Whether as an adoptive mother or adoptive father, what you do is not necessarily physical. It is to create that spiritual, mental, emotional and physical space sufficient for the creative spirt to be free to unfold true to its nature. What exactly you need to do for the creative spirit of another will be determined by your intuitive guidance. Your mind will help but I cannot lead and choose what needs to be done. You will be required to surrender to your intuitive guidance as to what you will need to do and allow it to lead your efforts.

It needs to be emphasized here, you cannot give what you don’t have. You cannot get from another what they do not have. If you want freedom to create what you desire, you have to give that freedom to another to be able to get it from another. If you do not have freedom within your being, you have to become the creator and create that freedom within your being out of nothing, the ultimate creative act - creating something out of a “no-thing-ness.” Then in giving it away, you see it come back to you. If you sit and wait, you will not get it. You have to act first to create. You have to become the creator and create a safe space of freedom for another at every level of their being. When you do that, and only when you do that, can you know what kind of creative power that you really have.

An important note needs to be made here and it will be said more than once. You normally cannot do this for someone you want in your life like a spouse, child or friend whom you expect to play a role in your life to satisfy your needs. You have to allow the person from whom you hold the space to have complete freedom to choose what they choose to do. If you place expectations on them to meet your needs, they are not free. You can ask them to play a role in your life but they have to be totally free to choose. In this regard, you cannot even expect them to say thank you. They have to be free of your expectations. You have to give them total freedom Because of this your ego will not survive this effort as you give freedom to another if you carry it through to the end. You will be transformed but again, you will find incredible freedom and creative power.

The need to love oneself (Top)

Only in loving ourselves did we create the space within our being to live the truth of our being.

Whenever we compare ourselves to others in the outer world, there is always some way we can find ourselves to be inadequate or seen somehow less than another. When we compare ourselves to the power, size and magnitude of the Universe, we seem to be totally insignificant. We are less than a drop of water in the ocean. Yet, in realizing we are unique, a unique view of Creation that no other has, we can come to see and love the beauty found in our uniqueness. We find that no matter how we look at the Universe, there is no other like us and only if we allow ourselves to step out in our uniqueness can we be seen for who and what we are. We have to love ourselves sufficiently to reveal and be your uniqueness. If you cannot give that love to yourself if you cannot give it to another for you do not have it to give.

It takes a deep love to realize the love and beauty behind Creation such that each of us has a unique beauty. To see the tremendous diversity of Creation and all the individually unique aspects of Creation one can only conclude the Creation Power of the Universe cherishes our differences and desire them to be expressed. Who are you to judge the Universe as to the wisdom it possess and what It wants to see and experience. If it didn’t like uniqueness everything would be the same. But that is not the case. We must learn to see the beauty in the uniqueness of ourselves and cherish it. Then we will be able to see and cherish it in another. We only need to love ourselves enough to express that uniqueness true to itself. In doing so, we give a gift to the world. Actually, we give three gifts. One is our uniqueness. The second is the love that allows that uniqueness to unfold. The third is, with that love, we can create the space for the uniqueness of another to unfold.

The need to love another as ourselves (Top)

Only in loving another as ourselves where we created the space to allow others to freely live the truth of their being could we reveal the depth and breadth of the creative power within ourselves to ourselves and others.

Only in loving the uniqueness and beauty of another sufficiently to create the space for the uniqueness within them to come out does one reveal their own beauty and creative power. When we reveal the other we reveal ourselves. What you will reveal is beyond what you mind can imagine. All that can be said is to try it and see for yourself.

We cannot give what we do not have (Top)

In finding and embracing your creative power, create the space within yourself to allow yourself and others to freely find and embrace their creative power.

You have to choose to create the space for another. It is not something that comes naturally and it is not about telling someone what to do. It is about creative the space for another to find themselves. What another needs to do to find themselves is not necessarily something appealing to you. But you give them the space they need to do what they needs. Before you can create the proper external space for another you will need to create the space within yourself. You have to become extremely flexible, usually at the expense of your ego and your thinking, to adopt to the needs of the other. You have to be flexible enough to do what you need to do that gives full permission to the other to do what they need to do. You cannot give the space to another by remaining rigid in your own thinking and identity.

Learn to become unconditional (Top)

Become a rainmaker, a dream midwife and nanny for the dreams of at least one individual, giving freely and unconditionally, without obligation or duty, whatever was required with no expectations in return. Without placing expectation on the individual in any way, they are free to unfold true to their nature at each and every level of their being. In doing that for another, you give the same gift to yourself.

Here is where you find out if you can transcend the ego. Creating the space for another to become free must be unconditional. That is, their creative spirit must be free to do what it desires to do without expectations imposed on it from mind whether from their own mind or the mind of another. Not placing any expectation on the individual includes the desire that they allow you to create the unconditional space for them.

This is the most interesting aspect of creating the space for another. As you hold the space for them and as the person becomes free, and begins to learn to creatively “stand on their own two feet” to express the truth of their being, it is most probable that they will separate from you. The reason for this is quite simple. To place the expectation on a person that they allow you to create for them the space of freedom does not give them the freedom of choosing who creates their freedom and how they will explore with that freedom. Ultimately the individual will have to choose who they want to help them experience freedom. Whether the person they choose allows them to explore their freedom and they become captured by the individual they choose is another question and not one you can concern yourself with. If you do, you will be interfering with their freedom.

Yet you cannot abandon them if they choose to separate from you. You still need to hold the intention and space for their freedom. If they choose to return to you, you need to create and hold a new space based on where they are in their journey. You have to be willing to let them choose however they choose and never abandon them. All you can do is ask your intuition to lead you to the person for whom you are to create a space of freedom and expect that at some point the individual will choose to separate from you because otherwise they will not be free to experience their freedom.
So, any one individual can only take another individual only so far in process of becoming free and then the person’s own freedom will take over and determine what needs to be experienced. Because of this aspect, it is extremely difficult to create the space of freedom for a spouse, lover, family member, or any type of partner (although it can be done) where you have an implicit or expectation attachment and/or expectation of some type. It is difficult for you will have to give them the freedom to choose to be with someone other than you or to be with you in a way that is other than what you expect or desire.

Become a rainmaker, a dream midwife and a nanny (Top)

As a rainmaker, create the fertile space for their dream to grow inside themselves. As a dream midwife, assist in birthing that dream to take a form in the world. As a nanny, help to ensure a safe and secure space until the dream was strong enough to “stand on its own two feet” and go into the world. In doing so you give the same gift to yourself for you cannot give what you do not have.

The rainmaker, dream midwife and dream nanny are three distinct steps in this process. You will need to experience all three to understand the full creative process in freeing the creative spirit. Your mind will be unable to lead you in what you need to do. You will need to consult your intuitive guidance to know what you need to do.

The rainmaker creates the space for the individual to get in touch with their own unique creativity. It is about bringing the waters of life to the parched dray landscape. But you will have to focus yourself and look carefully to see exactly how the water and nourishment needs to be provided. It is about creating the space for the individual to allow the free flow of their creative spirit to nourish the individual’s life and creative endeavors they wish to undertake. You will know when the individual accesses and releases this creative spirit for they will become different and in particular, more full of life. Exactly what it will look like depends on the individual and how their creative spirit has been bound.

The dream midwife looks and becomes aware of what the individual desires to create with the their freed creative spirit and the life they find. They help the individual to move toward manifesting that dream. The dream midwife helps to create what is necessary for the individual to take that first step into the external world to achieve that dream.

The dream nanny holds the individual accountable to their dream so as to not become distracted by the mundane of the world or to run away when their creative spirit get thwarted in its initial attempts. The also do what they can to hold the individual accountable to what they desire to create and help the individual manifest their dream. When the individual is able to creative stand on their own two feet to do what needs to be done, their role ends.

It is at this point, a new possibility exists. The door is open to bigger and more encompassing activities. The possibility now exists for the individual to joint as conscious creators into a joint creation. The opportunity exists to combine their creative energy much the way you would combine two pieces of twine into a stronger rope or even to joint to strands of and DNA helix into a new creation, a new life combining the creative talent of each. The next step is to join with others were a group of individuals align their creative energy and create an even strong creative force. There is no limit as to what can be created. One can create a world where each is free to live the truth of their being and simultaneously allow the other or others to be free to do the same whether together or apart.

To act on this step, ask the Creative Power to lead you to the individual for whom you will become the rainmaker, dream midwife, and nanny. If you select the person, you will be acting out of ego and not be giving unconditionally. To get around the ego, allow the person to be lead to you. Often the person lead to you will not be a person your ego particularly likes for one reason or another that the mind will give. Through, observation of the individual and in consultation with your intuitive guidance and the Creative Power within, do whatever is necessary and pay whatever prices is necessary to create the space for that individual to live the truth of their being and unfold true to their nature at each and every level of their being. You will not necessarily have to tell them what to do. Rather, their intuitive guidance is more than adequate to lead them. You need to hold them accountable to maintain their focus and allowing their intuitive guidance to lead.
