Since what we believe about free
will is so creatively important, if you cannot, for one reason or
another not embrace a free will, as described in the creativity
perspective, the following recommendations is made. A mind that
believes a solution to a problem exists or is possible, looks for
the solution. If you think a problem is unsolvable, you will not see
what is possible. That difference in perspective makes all the
difference in what becomes possible.
The issue of free will is extremely important to your creativity and
you will have to decide if you have a free will or not. It doesn’t
matter if you perceive you are not in control and you cannot change
what is happening but how you perceive and choose as a result of
free will makes all the difference in what unfolds. Look at it as
being stuck on a river in a boat . You do not have the speed to over
come the current of the river. You will be carried by the river.
However, where you end up totally depends on how you choose. If you
have no free will, you are simply carried by the river. However, if
you have a free will. You can move in a direction other than the
current. It does not mean you will overcome the current but it does
make a tremendous difference where you end up. That is what is key.
First recommendation: From a creativity perspective and accessing
our creative power, whether we actually have a free will in any
given particular situation is not as important as to what you
believe and how you act. As a minimum, you have the freedom of
choice to choose how you respond internally to anything that arises
in your life. Assume you have a free will and that you can choose in
a fashion that serves your interests. Consult your intuitive
guidance on any situation you face and watch what your intuitive
guidance presents. You may be very surprised. Then choose
appropriately about the situation.
Second recommendation: It may be argued, that whatever we believe
doesn’t matter for the question centers on whether or not the
Universe gives us a free will. If the Universe gives us a free will
then we have it. If it doesn’t give it to us, we don’t have it. The
counter argument to this position is, “How do you know whether or
not you have been given a free will unless you exercise it to see
what happens?” Yet, for many, the concept of attempting to exercise
a free will you it has not been given to you would be dangerous and
frightening. It would be dangerous for you would expect to
experience the wrath of whomever control your life for claiming
powers that were not yours.
For example, you can ask, “Is there a speed limit on the highway on
which I travel?” If the answer is yes, then you would not be free to
travel above that speed limit without the possibility of being
stopped by a law enforcement officer. If the answer is no, you can
travel any speed you wish and not suffer any repercussion by law
enforcement. Of course if you do travel at a high rate of speed and
are not stopped, that does not mean you are free to travel at any
speed. You may have violated a speed limit but no law enforcement
office was present to stop you. In any case, you have exercised the
freedom of choice as to which speed you choose to drive. That is
free will and acting on it makes all the difference.
This second recommendation is to act on your free will at least in
your own mind to explore the options. Explore both the opportunities
and consequences you may face in your creative imagination. No one
will arrest you in your own mind. If you are afraid, you don’t have
to at on all the options you see. But you will find there are
options more numerous that you can every imagine.
