The "Prayer to the Four Directions" was created as a ritual and prayer to honor the creative process in a way reflected in many Native American traditions. Simply said, as reflected in the prayer, the North is the frozen form that give birth to the life. The life arises in the East with the rising of the Sun. The life that comes into being lives in the South. The life departs and dies in the West with the setting of the Sun only to return to the North for the next cycle.

If we can stand back and look at all the pieces for which it is suggested rituals are created as listed in something like the topic, "Create a series of rituals and an initiation to access the intention for our life," they honor the entire cycle of the creative process. The prayer to the Four Directions encapsulates the creative process in daily cycle of the sun. The ritual to the Four Direction is only honoring the complete cycle as a cycle. In this regard, the ritual for any creative endeavor can be combined into one overall process. It may take some time to complete. But, we need to honor both the entire creative process of which we partake and the individual portions for we will be experiencing them all as we manifest what we desire. If you haven’t notice much of the rituals are about letting go and breaking with the past. They are reflective of the sacrifice of creation and the chaos of creation which results in the energy to begin to flow into the new form to grow and unfold.

In a way appropriate to our beliefs we need to use the concepts in the "Prayer to the Four Directions" to construct a ritual to honor the creative process in which we are partaking both in living life and in creating the conditions to manifest any creation.
