What is presented here is a brief description of the more common fears that arise relative to accessing our creative ability and creative power or pursing a true creative endeavor. The associated hyperlink provides additional discussion and/or thoughts as to how to deal with and/or about the fear. Fear of responsibility: Fear of responsibility is simply about the fact that when we are responsible for what happens in our life, we have no one to blame but ourselves. This is compound by the fact that we do not necessarily understand how we are creating our experiences. The human experience is almost designed to create a victim consciousness such that we seem to be at the mercy of unseen forces beyond our control. When we are faced with pain and suffering, it is very hard to accept the fact that we somehow created or agreed to participate in the experience we have. Additional discussion in provided in the topic, " Fear of responsibility." Fear of becoming who we are (Fear of accepting full responsibility for who and what we are): There is a very powerful implication in the Creation Story for the Creativity Perspective and the subsequent understanding of the equivalency of energy and consciousness. The implication is that consciousness exists at every point, and every point can expand its awakened consciousness to become cosmic consciousness at one with the All That Is. This in turn means, each point can hold the power of the All That Is when it is in cosmic consciousness. In this cosmic awareness one thought held holds the possibility of completely annihilating all of Creation and/or recreating Creation. This is an awesome responsibility. Our problem is that, as an individual point or aspect of this consciousness within, or behind, Creation, we do have such power but most are terrified of it. Additional discussion in provided in the topic, "Fear of becoming who we are." Fear of Death of the Enculturated Ego: The enculturated ego is the identity we have been taught to believe we are. It is that identity given to us by our parents, our religion, our society and the experiences we have had based on our enculturation. To move to the identity of the heart and our creative spirit to access our creative power, usually, the identity of the mind must die. It is this death of the enculturated ego that most fear because it can be quite painful since we hold on so tightly to the elements that make up this identity. Additionally, loss of this identity may cause a loss of our role and recognition in society, which encompasses a whole different set of fears because of what needs to be released relative to that society. Additional discussion is provided in the topic, "Fear and the death of the enculturated ego." Fear of ego annihilation and assimilation into Oneness: Related, but somewhat different from fear of death of the ego is fear the ego will be annihilated and we cease to exist for we rejoin the oneness of all things. But this is the paradox - it is true, but isn’t. It only appears this way to the ego. Addition discussion is found in the topic "Fear of ego annihilation and assimilation into oneness." Fear of Being Alone: In living the intention for our life and having the experiences you came to have, we are frequently seen differently from what society would like us to be. When we separate from any group, in addition to being seen differently and not as a member of that group, we are no longer tied to that emotional energy that we were receiving from the group. Additional discussion is found in the topic, "Fear of being alone." Fear of abandonment and being unloved: Fear of abandonment and being unloved are forms and variations of the fear of being alone but they are felt at a deeper level. . That is, even when we are with another or others, we can still feel abandoned and/or unloved. Additional discussion is found in the topic "Fear of abandonment and fear of being alone." Fear of the Greatest Common Good: Whenever one makes a request to the Divine, God, the unseen, or whatever we may wish to call it, it has been frequently advised by many traditions to offer the request in, and for, the greatest common good. In some way, this implies that for which we ask for ourselves is not in the greatest common good and that the greatest common good is not what we would want. In this regard, something for the greatest common good will mean a sacrifice from our perspective because we have to give of ourselves or what we desire to the common good. As such fear arises in that we become a "clog in the wheel" and we are ultimately at the mercy of society. Additional discussion is found in the topic, "Fear of the greatest common good" Fear of Leaving Loved Ones Behind: Fear of leaving loved ones behind is really the reverse of a form of the fear of abandonment and not being loved. Although creation/Creation is not done alone and we need the other in our life to give us the experiences we desire to have, we need to realize the other is just like us. That is, they are an infinitely creative being capable of expanding their awareness to create whatever they desire. They are fully capable of finding satisfaction with or without us but we cannot allow them to cause us to deny our truth and what we need to do in, and with, our life. Additional discussion is found in the topic "Fear of leaving loved ones behind." Fear of God God is frequently seen as an infinite creative power ruling over Creation. There is a fear that if we in some way alienate God and/or disappoint God, He/She in some way will punish us. Additional discussion if found in the topic "Fear of God." Fear of Not Being Worthy: Fear of not being worth can be seen either as a fear or a belief. As a fear it is to see oneself as not being able to not "measure up" to the ideals expected of us or what we think God or some other authority expects of us. As a belief it is simply believing we do not measure up in some way. Additional discussion is found in the topic, "Fear of not being worthy." Fear of Loss of Our Attachments and Not Having Our Needs Met. There are many things to which we become attached in life. Some are attachments to things we like to have and others are attachments to what we think we need. Then, of course, there are attachments to what we truly need. The questions is sorting them out. Although there is a fear in the loss of any attachments, what we really fear not having our true needs met. Additional discussion is found in the topic, "Fear of loss of attachments and not having our needs met." Fear of failure and fear of making a mistake: Whenever we set out to do anything, there is always the possibility of failing to achieve what we set out to do for whatever reason. Many fear failure and fear of making a mistake. Yet, in a true creative endeavor there are no mistakes. There are only learning experiences as to what does and doesn’t work. Failure and mistakes are only made in comparison to some standard of comparison or expectation. Additional discussion if found in the topic, "Fear of failure and fear of making a mistake." Fear of Pain and Suffering: Fear of pain and suffering is probably one of the more prevalent fears we face. From a creativity perspective and how we create our experiences, pain is the result of holding onto something that must pass and be released. It is holding onto that which must be let go The key is to understand both the nature of fear and the nature of pain. Additional discussion is found in the topic, "Fear of pain and suffering."
