There are five ways for consciousness to define itself and four primary ways it can create the experiences its has that it then can use to live its life. These are ways that we ourselves use to give us the identity we have.

One is to live by who we think we are. It is to basically define ourselves by the past and respond to life from the past. A second is to follow another individual or society denying what we think and feel as necessary to stay in alignment with them. A third is to live our truth from within what is symbolized in our heart unique to our own being. The fourth is to merge our truth with another and live what is commonly shared as truth denying that which is not common. The fifth is to merge our truth with another yet embracing both what is commonly held and what it within each heart. In actually, we use all five of these from time to time localizing ourselves more often in one of the ways than any of the others.

There are four primary ways that we can create the experiences we have that we use to define ourselves. Of course, each of these four ways exist on a spectrum relative to any one of the others and we use a different proportion for each experience we have. They are; 1) perceive ourselves as a separate individual consciousness and our consciousness is the only reality that exists; 2) perceive only the common shared reality that exist between us and one or more other individuals as the reality that exists which usually means we deny the reality within; 3) view ourselves as a creation from within a creation and perceive the creation we experience as the only reality that exists; and 4) merge our reality with another and view the merged reality as the only reality.

In this first way, to perceive ourselves as a separate individual consciousness and our consciousness is the only reality that exists, is to see the world work only as we think it works. It is to live in the world of “I” or ‘Me.” It has nothing to do with the reality of any experience but rather we see reality only as we experience it no matter what the evidence suggest otherwise. It is to not allow our thinking to change and evolve with the new experience and information that comes into our life. It is to be unwilling and have no ability to challenge our own thinking to see if there might not be another way to view reality. Here we literally and figuratively lives in our own world. To live this first way is to be so totally absorbed in ourselves and our thinking we cannot see reality or ourselves for what it is. This way of living is totally opposed to living from what is symbolized in our heart. To live from what is symbolized in the heart is to live very much from a an “I” centered view but it is not to serve the “I.” It is to live within a conscious awareness of the interconnectedness of all things and the “I” is only a vehicle for the service of that interconnectedness. Although we are very much centered inward and follows an internal compass, we do not
live in separation from the reality we experiences.

The second way is to perceive only the common shared reality that exist between ourselves and one or more other individuals as the reality that exists which usually means we deny the reality within. This is most characteristic of the way we live within family and society. We deny any aspect of our own being that does not conform to those around us or is somehow align with them. This way of perceiving reality will also deny the nature of reality if it does not agree with the commonly held thinking. To live from this view is to serve a collective ego as opposed to the individual ego.

The third way is to view a creation from within a creation and perceive that the creation we experience as the only reality that exists. This is the way we view reality if we believe we are human. That is, we see our bodies as who we are and we see ourselves as only part of the physical world. If we perceive that there is a non physical aspect to our being, we perceive we are a human having a spiritual experience. In this view one is totally dependent on the Creation in which we find themselves.

The fourth way to perceive reality is to merge our reality with another and view the merged reality as the only reality. Here we does not deny our internal world nor the internal reality of another. It also embraces the Creation in which we finds themselves. To live this way is to find a way to view and perceive reality with a truth that transcends the individual experience and encompasses the experience of others.

As was said above, most of us live with some combination of these ways to perceive reality. What we don’t realizes is that we usually do not have a consistent way of viewing reality across each and every aspect of our being. We tend to believe others more than ourselves when it comes to spiritual experiences or experiences of the unseen. Similarly, we tend to perceive what we feel as totally arises from which our being rather than in the interconnectedness of Creation we may be feeling an energy which arises from outside ourselves. What is important to realize, to access the depth and breadth of our creative power, we need to have a perspective that fully embraces the truth of our own being and the truth external to us. It is there we access both the inner and outer creative power/Creative Power available to us.
