There is an awareness the author
has always carried and he can not remember not having it. The
awareness was about growing things and the need to grow things.
Wherever the author has lived he has a garden of some type. Only the
high school years, college years and a single year living in an
apartment did he not have a garden. Otherwise he always had one. In
fact, as a very young child he planted a garden even when no one in
his family had any such interest in gardening. The author still
remembers the bulldozer that buried one of his early gardens and the
corn that was growing around age seven or eight as they build his
aunt’s house next door. Quite simply, the author has never been
without his garden and he always knew that physical creation was
about gardening and growing things.
As a manager he always look to grow his employees. He always look to
grow them into their job that gave them a satisfaction in life. That
is, their job did not give them a pay check but a satisfaction in
life. He even helped good employees find new job. Not because he
wanted the employees to leave, but he knew that only when someone is
truly happy in what they do will they perform as needed. He was more
than confident he could replace any employee with someone of
equivalent talent. Besides, there was always the possibility he
could hire someone who would be truly happy in what they were tasked
to do. His logic was quite simply. Why have an employee who was not
satisfied. They would just end up making more work for him. He would
rather have a friend some where out in the world who remembers what
he did for them in helping them find a satisfying job that having a
disgruntled employee making more work for him.
The author never really understood why his was drawn to manage this
way. It was only after the
Ultimate Accident and his experience with the rebirth of an
individual’s creative spirit did he see what he had been trying to
do. All his life he had been subconsciously trying to find a way to
create the space for the individual’s creative spirit to be free to
unfold. He was just unaware how to access and understand the real
needs of the creative spirit.
One creativity consultant, worked closely with the author when the
author was exploring corporate creativity, said the author was very
much like the main character in a book entitled, “The Man Who
Planted Trees.” In this story, there is man who, while tending
his herd, would plant seeds for trees. Every night he would select
the seed and then plant them the next day. As the heard move to new
lands, the man continued to plant seeds all along the way and never
looked back. Over the years he caused much of the countryside to be
revitalized because of the trees he planted. Yet, the man never look
back and never saw what he created. He just kept moving forward
planting seeds. In ten, twenty and thirty years, complete forest
would be growing because of the few seeds he planted.
What is very clear to the author is that creation is about planting
seeds and nurturing the creation that arises from the seeds we
plant. Many of his analogies speak to this fact. The writing of the
origins of the Releasing Your Unlimited Creativity Technology and
its applications is to show how the understanding has grow and
evolved from ideas or events years earlier in life. It is the way
physical Creation works and how we create our experiences. Our lives
are the fruit of the seeds we plant. The seeds we plant are
ultimately what we think, say and do. We each need to become a
gardener of our thoughts and our lives. Yet many do not have the
patients or the awareness to garden. It is only in becoming aware of
the seeds we plant do we know what plants we need to rip out of our
life before they mature and go to seed. If they go to seed they will
only create more of what we don’t want in our lives.
