It is stated in the second step of the creative/creation process “Creating the Space for Creation - Preparing the Environment”: Recreating an aspect of ourselves and/or our environment is subject to internal and external influences. Creating the space is about working to understanding and addressing the internal and external influences on our particular creative endeavor and addressing or reducing their impact to the extent possible. Exactly what those influences may be and how effectively we can address them is unique to our creative efforts. (More on .... addressing the internal and external influences on our creative endeavor).

The creative/creation process analogously is a heating up and cooling down process. It creates a “fire” which consumes the existing world so that it can be dissolved and recast into the new world.
If we are allowed to be in a space with little or no outside influences, we will take a shape and form inherent to our own being and as we cool down from the transformation process. In doing so, we will become our unique creation that we are in alignment with the truth of our being.

If however there are outside influences, we will take the shape of those influences and rather becoming who and what we are, we will continue to take the shape of that which is external to us. In this regard, many traditions, religious or secular, which work with transforming the individual’s view of reality often require a period of isolation from the world. This is necessary to reduce the outside influences as the individual transforms.

There are two primary external influences and one internal influence of which we need to become aware.

Internally, all that influences us can be summarized into one simple principle. It is, “What within our being does or doesn’t allow us hold focus on what we desire to create?” To create anything we must have the focus and passion at some level of our being like a drowning person has for air. We must know what we need to get and have the energy and passion to get it with a single point focus. Anything that takes of off focus or drains our energy does not sever our creative need. It does not matter from where it originates or what it is. The question that only needs to be addressed is, “Does what arise from within our being server our creative need?”

The easiest solution to this internal issue is to learn how to use the internal compass and focus on the feeling behind, or giving rise to, what we desire to create. Then use the internal compass and that feeling to hold us accountable to what it is we desire.

Externally, one influence is society and the other is the expectations of those in our immediate environment. All of us tend to be influenced by society much the way all materials are influenced by gravity. It exists even thought we may not be aware of its force on us. It is necessary to become aware of how it is influencing us for otherwise we will not mold ourselves true to our nature.

Although the influence of society is less of an influence that those in our immediate environment it is much more permeating and stronger in its effects. The influence of those in our immediate environment are very strong but relative short ranged. They causes us to create habits of response but as we change those in our environment, we can change our habits. However, the residual habit will still exist unless we actively create a flow pattern within our being by changing our thinking and how we believe that eradicates all traces of the habit. Changing an external life style without change the fundament beliefs and thinking that caused that pattern will not eradicate a habit. It will only cause the habit to become dormant.

The influences of society and those immediate to use, is one reason why it may become very important that we remain isolated for a time as we reform and recast our being. How much isolation that is needed depends on how strong or subtle our internal influences are relative to the external situations of our life. Then of course we have to be aware of who you trust to enter our life during this reformation period and help to meet our mundane needs for they will be influencing us whether we realize it or not and to a much greater extent than we realize.

It needs to be understood is that the chaotic state we experience within our being during the creation process is very real. The ability of outside influences to force us to take the shape of the environment conditions we find ourselves is equally real. It cannot be overemphasized that once the internal or external influences start to form a pattern as the material cools, the material will continue to flow in alignment with the influence until the influence changes or a new form is cast.
