In the discussion, "Mind and symbolism of the head," the following working definition of mind is provided: "Mind is what you think and believe, who you think you are and how you think the universe works based on all the experiences you have had. It is what you allow yourself to feel and not feel and the decisions you make and not make, on what you think and feel. Mind assimilates all that you have experienced and provides a perspective from which to view and experience Creation. Since mind is continually assimilating all that we experience it is a creative living process continually transforming itself."

If we look at what is really said, mind is imply a collection of experiences and the sum total of what we think and believe as a result of those experiences. Relative to what we experience, it is probably clear that we can have one experience in our life that colors every other experience we have of that type of experience. As such, we can begin to see how some beliefs lie at the foundation of other beliefs and unpins how we perceive life. If we change those underpinning beliefs, we can change our whole perspective in the proverbial "twinkling of an eye."

Layers to the mind are more like the strata of the earth as one digs down into the earth. Each strata represents a different time period in the life of the earth. Similarly, in our mind we have different layers which we would call different realms of experience that represent different time periods of our life. Yet the mind is really not layered. It is more like a deep body of water which all is the same. Only, at the deeper layers, there is a greater pressure as a result of all that stands above.

Here an important point needs to be noted. If we believe our mind are more like a deep body of water where all is interconnected and anyone beliefs is not really any different than any other, we have a create fluidity in how we respond to the events we experience. If however, we see each event in life as separate from any other, we begin to see strata and layers to our beliefs and there are levels to which we must go to access certain types and kinds of beliefs. In this case, the layers to the mind are in essence the layers to our beliefs as discussed in the topic, "Level or layers to our beliefs."

Most of us have more of a layer/level perception simply because life tends to be experienced in relatively discrete time periods. We go to work and have our work experiences. We have our commuting experiences. We have our life at home experiences and each day we create a layer of new experiences to overlay the old. We create layer after layer of experience each day we live, year after year. However, it is not the layers of experience we create as such that is important. It is the beliefs we have that lie within each layer of experience. That is, the beliefs are layered and some beliefs underpin many other beliefs. The underpinning belief can be a very old belief we obtain at the early days of our life or it gain it as recent as last week. The issue here is there are beliefs that are more fundamental and basic than other beliefs. When we change a fundamental belief we could end us changing a whole aspect of our being immediately.

The challenge is to begin to see life as in overall interconnected weave where nothing is separate from or removed from any other and the past is the future and the future is the past. It is to live in the realization that the moment of power is now. It is not about the past what has happened and it is not about the future as to what we think will happen. It is about being fully present to the moment and acting impeccably in the moment. When we are present in the moment, past and present really become irrelevant for there is only the now. When we act to the best of our ability impeccably in the present moment based on all that we know and understand, we cannot ask to do any better than that. But to become impeccable, we need to learn to become a detached witness to our life and look to develop personal mastery.
