In any true creative endeavor the mind is faced with the unknown. The key to any creative endeavor is learn to step out of mind and surrender to the feeling of the flow of energy arising form the held intention flowing to manifest the desired creation. This process causes fear to arise in mind in several different ways.

The first issue is that our current mind arose from the experiences which we have had in our current life. When our current mind looks out at life it sees the body dies. Since our current mind is integrally linked to the body, mind think that if how it has defined itself changes, it too will die. One of the first things which needs to be done is for mind to realize it will not die. It is a creative living process capable of continually redefining itself. Exactly how mind learns this lesson will be unique to each individual. To participate in some type and kind of “not doing” practice is probably the quickest way for mind to realize it will not die but can continually recreate itself. In time it may come to understand it is part of a deeper nonconscious mind and transcendental mind which spans past any given lifetime.

The second issue is mind fears the future will be like the past. Within the creative process there arises the an anxiety of creation which is simply an anxiety of the unknown. Yet one cannot fear the unknown for it does not know what to fear. The issue here is to realize and address the hazard in the fear that arises from the past. Either directly address the hazard or implement compensatory measures to mitigate the hazard.

The third issue is loss of control. Mind prefers to be in control and to be in charge. Since the creative process takes us into the unknown, mind losses control. This is not a fear as in fearing the unknown. Rather, it is simply the fear of not being in control. Probably the greatest antidote to lost of control is for mind to realize the creative process requires a dance between heart and mind. Mind need to realize that to create take it past where it has been and out side of its experience and it limits and boundaries. If mind has any hope of getting what it desires it must surrender to the flow of energy its desire creates. In that surrender it will get what it desires. It is just a time line and a process mind cannot control.
