The long term issue of mind is related to mindfulness and awareness and how to maintain them. The reason is when mindfulness and awareness are lost there is a subsequent loss of one’s ability to consciously tap into their creative life energy and ability to create what they desire. What needs to be understood about mind is that whenever something is routine, habits are created. Habits allow one to enter an activity in essentially a sleep state. That is, we enter the activity in unawareness and without the need for mindfulness such that we can act nonconsciously. This of itself is neither good nor bad but depends on the situation. It just needs to be understood and effectively used. It is good in that one can be trained to respond to a situation before problems develop or the situation deteriorates as is an accident situation. However, it is bad because it can create a tunnel vision and one may not see the full extent of the situation at hand. Or, we may be acting nonconsciously and not really paying attention to what is happening.

We develop habits to allow us to do certain activities successfully. Any skill uses habits that have been developed with practice. For example learning to play and instrument or to type on a key board. We learn to move the fingers without thinking. we practices until we can do whatever it is we need to do correctly and nonconsciously. However, what we are doing is replacing awareness with the habit. When we replace our life with habit our awareness essentially goes to sleep and we will either not be open to see change or it will be more difficult to see the change.

Habits will cause one to take action before they think and realize what may be happening. Yet this is what mind does all the time and is normal for it is the way mind operates. It senses an energy and quickly characterizes that energy based on the experiences it has had. Mind will not normally wait to observe the energy to see if it really like the past or there are new facets to what is experienced such that its past experiences are a poor characterization at best. In this regard, habits cause one to live in the past and the past ways of doing things. In effects, habits wed us to the past. Habits causes us to not look beyond the habit and one typical normal response that is a perfect example is, "This is the way we always do it." If one lives their life in routine, they will lose mindfulness and awareness. In many ways life is continually disrupting our routines giving us the challenge to "wake up" and become aware and mindful of what we are experiencing. But then, many aspects of life continually cause us to create habits and go to sleep rather than becoming mindful and aware.

The more damaging form of habit is when mind creates rules or prescribed ways of action to perform and respond in a given environment or situation in a particular way. In time we develop a habitual response to comply with those rules and all seems to go well. Then when the environment or situation changes, the rules or prescribe way of action are no longer applicable as they once were. The rules start to move out of phase with what needs to be done in the current moment but the habit keeps us bound. Often the true hazards of the situation or issue that arises is overlooked because of outdated modes of operation are ruling. We do not notice the situation for what it is until something collapses and fails in some way such that we are forced to develop a different response pattern. We look at what happens such as an accident, illness or some other problem or issue as something that is happening to us. But, we give little consideration that we ourselves have moved out of alignment with the situation as it exists because of our habits and past ways of thinking and responding to the world we experience.

The key to understanding this issue is found within the understanding provided by seeing energy and consciousness as one and the same. Within this understanding, the focus of the attention and awareness of consciousness causes energy to flow into a creation determined by the focus that is held. The flip side of the process is that any flow of energy is capable of awakening consciousness causing it to become aware. When consciousness awakens it can then choose to become mindful and aware both of itself, its environment and what it is experiencing. Our creative potential lies in optimizing our alignment with the flow of our creative life energy. We need to understand, the flow within us never changes. What changes is our alignment with the flow. To align with the flow we have to be out of the judgments of the mind and use the feelings within our being for there is an awareness in what we feel.

When one loses awareness or allows themselves to consciously go to sleep, they reduce their creative ability and their alignment with flow of energy. To understand this, look at going to sleep at night. When we are sleep, be may create in our dreams, but we are not able to move into the work to create something. In going to sleep at any level of our being, we reduces our creative ability because we lose awareness and in losing awareness we are less aware of the flow. Hence we can direct only a smaller portion of that flow into our desired creation. If we desire to have either a powerful creative ability or to optimizing accessing the flow of our creative life energy to have the energy to accomplish anything we desire to create we needs to remain aware and awake of the flow within our being.

The same is true for any organization. If it wants to be able to creatively respond to a situation and have the necessary energy to create the response that is needed and appropriate for the situation it will need to have individuals who are aware and awake. If the employees only work routine functions with a habitual performance pattern their creativity and energy will not be available to respond to changes. In these circumstances, when the organization needs creativity, it ends up hiring some consultant to try and fix the problem the organization faces. However no one, whether it be an individual or a organization knows it problems and how to solve its problems better than themselves.

Whatever a consultant gives will never be quite as good what we can give ourselves. Now, we may have to hire a consultant or contractor for specific talents and abilities we do not have, But we need to determined how those abilities can best serve us or the organization. It doesn’t matter how much of a world’s expert we hire, they will not, and cannot, know what is ultimately best for us. Only we can determined that. But we have to be aware and awake to know what thoughts, memories, words and deeds serve or do not serve us.

The challenge to the organization will be to have some individuals within that organization who intimately know the organization and who are aware and awake. They will be able to provide that creative interface for any problem the organization faces. However, to have a group of individuals aware and awake within the organization, the individual will need to have mastered themselves and have move outside the games that most managers play. They will have to be able to clearly distinguish between what serves their individual needs and the needs of the organization and have an establish program to keep themselves aware and awake to both their true needs and the true needs of the organization. Additionally the individuals will have to have the courage to put their needs aside and act to serve the organization. They will have to learn to walk in balance and dance between giving themselves what they need and the organization where neither is short changed.
