There are two parts to our creativity. One is our creative power. The other is our creative ability. Creative ability is different than creative power. The two are integrally linked and often seem inseparable but they are different. Creative power is about using the energy aspect of energy consciousness. Creative ability is about using the consciousness aspect of energy consciousness

Energy is the ability to makes something happen or to cause an effect.  Creative energy, or energy directed into a creative endeavor, is  about causing something new, previously unseen or significantly different from the past to come into existence.

Power is energy expended over time. Creative power is about having the ability and power to manifest a creative idea. It is to  make something happen or to cause an effect over a period of time and/or how fast or slow it happens. In particular it is about the power to cause something to come into existence which did not previously exist or is significantly different from the past in a fast of slow way and to sustain that creation. Creative power is about consciousness directing a flow of creative life energy by how it focuses its attention and awareness

Since creative power is an energy flow, it is experienced in feeling and as feeling. Creative ability is the knowledge, understanding and ability to discern the flow of energy which will give rise to our desired creation and/or direct the flow of creative energy into what we desire to manifest. Creative ability is also about having the knowledge, understanding and awareness to become the cause.

Creative power (Top)

Without a flow of energy, there is nothing to cause the movement to animate a creation. Without a flow of energy there is no creation/Creation. Creative power is about how and what we feel and why we feel, and don’t feel, what we do.

Our creative power lies in feelings. It lies in what we feel and allow ourselves to feel and what we give permission to ourselves to feel. Without some feeling, nothing happens. We need to have some feeling for what we do. Otherwise we will not act. What we feel does not just happen. Feelings arise from sensing a flow of energy. When we feel we are sensing a flow of energy. In learning to discern what we feel, we can access the flow of energy and direct it into our creative needs.

Creative power is about a flow of energy and the passion to act. To access our creative power, we need to be open to what we feel at each and every level of our being. We need to become aware of what we feel nonconsciously that may be directing us in life. We need to explore what methods allow the greatest feelings to arise within our being. For large tasks we need enormous feelings that will last years. For small tasks, we need only a little feeling. It is much like learning to fuel a rocket. We need to ensure it has enough fuel to last the journey we wish to take.

Creative power is about accessing the internal and external flow of creative life energy available to us. To access our creative power, we need to develop our creative ability. We need to develop understanding. With understanding, the power we have is amplified. Without understanding, our creative power becomes a rudderless ship at the mercy of the currents and the winds of Creation. We simply respond to life rather than becoming a conscious creator.

Creative power is about passion, desire and dissatisfaction. The greater the dissatisfaction the greater the desire. The greater the desire the greater the creative tension available to cause a flow of energy. Remember, energy flows as a result of the tension between the separation of opposites much like an electric battery. This is why many only become truly creative when they are in pain. It is where the separation from the pleasure they seek becomes so strong they are willing to step out of mind to do whatever it takes to regain the pleasure.

It is said desire is the root of all our pain. To make such a statement is not to understand that gift that lies in pain. Desire and energy are the raw materials of creation/Creation. To become desire-less is to rob ourselves of our creative power and our ability to create. The issues is not desire. The issue is what we desire, why we desire what we do, and that which we hold rather than release. Answering these questions in turn takes us back into our belief structure. To become a conscious creator, we need to “pull the string” and explore the “why” for what we feel. (why do I feel this as opposed to something else?)

Creative ability (Top)

Creative ability includes many seemingly different things. Our creative ability includes:

  • What we understand about our feelings, the ability to discern the different feelings we have, and how we direct what we feeling based on our understanding.

  • Our understanding about how creation/Creation does or doesn’t work. This includes what we understand about how the world works, how we work and what we understand about what we feel is related to both.

  • Our creative ability lies in the development of our mind is and how it is focused to direct what we feel. and whether or not we are willing to follow our intuitive guidance to act. We do not need a conscious knowledge to act in a truly creative endeavor. Our intuitive guidance and body wisdom are more than adequate to lead us.

  • Understanding there is an awareness that lies in what we feel and behind what we feel and being open to accessing that awareness and the information it has for us.

Our mind is a powerful creative tool which allows us to focus our attention and awareness. Mind is what allows us to become the cause the to be a conscious creator. How we focus our attention and awareness causes feeling to arise or die and become nonexistent. It is our ability to focus our attention and awareness that allows us to create something our of nothing. With our mind, where feelings did not exist we can create the most intense passion. Similarly, with our mind, we can turn the most intense passion into nothing.

Creative ability is about knowing how to dance and how to consciously or nonconsciously intentionally become unbalanced and then return to balance. It is dance between knowing how to step out of mind to find the creative solution. Then step back into mind to direct the flow of our creative life energy as a single point focus into what we desire to create for the environment in which we find ourselves.

Creative ability is determined by our belief structure - is not on only what we think and believe (both consciously and nonconsciously) but how what we think and believe integrate to determine how and what we think. How what we think and believe creates the perception we hold.

Without the proper perspective we will never find what we desire. To expand our creativity, our creative ability and creative power we need a perspective that can encompass the level of creative ability and creative power we need to access.

In this regard, the recommendation is to adopt a creativity perspective. It is a perspective and associated belief structure where we hold our unique creativity sacred and all else malleable. Each of us can become aware of when we give our creative ability and creative power away. Doing so creates a victim consciousness in one or more aspects of our life. Additionally, we each need a “model” or “story” of Creation that is expansive enough to contain the depth and bread of our creative ability and creative power. Otherwise the model/story we use limits us to the boundaries of the model/story and we never access the potential available to us.

The question we all face is, “what is my unique creativity and what does it look like?” What works for one will not necessarily work for another. More often than not, it is not what our mind thinks. What mind thinks it our creativity is only mind’s best characterization based on the experiences we have had. We need to give ourselves permission and allow ourselves to experiment without judgement or bias. We all will need to do our own experiments to explore the depth and breadth of our creativity.

The issues we face  (Top)

There are several issues and problems we face relative to our creative ability and creative power. The are: creative power lies in feeling; mind is of limited value, our perspective and be aware of our assumptions.

Creative power lies in feeling
(Top): Our problem is most of us are not taught our creative power lies in what we feel. Although feeling is inherent to our being, many of us do not make the connection that our creative power lies in our feelings. Most think our creative power lies in what we know. What we are taught tends to be that our creative power lies in what we know. Since we must ultimately direct what we feel into something, we think our creative power lies in our mind and the choices we make. But it needs to be understood it does not matter what we know, how much we know or how little we know and how much we want to choose one way or another. Unless we have the feeling and passion to act, we will not create anything.

Mind is of limited value
(Top): In a truly creative endeavor mind is of limited value. We need to realize that in truly creative endeavor, we have little or no understanding of what we desire to create. A true creation has not been previously experienced. If we, are unwilling to surrender and follow the flow of energy through our intuitive guidance, our creative efforts will seem random. However, if we think we know what we need to do, our creative efforts will be random. The reason for this is creation takes us into the unknown and beyond what our mind has experience. But, the more experience mind has in creating and we understanding the creative process and the limitation of mind in a creative endeavor, our actions will both seem, and be, less random The key is to learn to navigate from the heart and allow the flow of energy to intend the direction of our life and allow mind to attend to the details to make it happen.

Our Perspective
(Top): The single, most significant issue that prevents us from accessing our inherent creativity is our perspective. That is, the theory/understanding we have about creativity, who we are and how creation/Creation works. What has been found is that more often than not, we do not have the understanding to truly understand the experiences we have - especially the experience of our own life.

It has been observed individuals routinely have profound creative experiences, many of them mystical experiences of highest order. However they do not have the understanding and/or belief system to truly understand what they have experienced when they have the experience. Sometimes they never understand it.

The issue of the need to have a proper perspective is so profound it started a journey and exploration into creativity. It was the catalyst to find an alternative way for people to get past the illusion mind creates that keeps us from accessing the truth of our own being and access our unlimited creativity to create what we desire. In the exploration of creativity, no perspective was found sufficiently broad enough to encompass the true depth and breadth of our inherent creative ability and creative power and what is available to us. The evidence suggests one was never created simply because we simply did not explore our assumptions about what it means to be human.

Be aware of our assumptions
(Top): We need to become aware that it is in our assumptions we find our problems. All assumptions are based on the past experiences we have. On this point, believe it or not, what we think and believe is actually an assumption on our part. At the most fundamental levels, Creation does not work the way our mind perceives reality. Yet, we keep trying to force reality to be what we want it to be. The struggle between what is and what mind wants and perceives gives rise to much of th pain we face in life.

Contrary to what we come to think and believe about creativity, most of us, including those who profess to know, do not have an adequate perception to enter a truly creative endeavor and have our mind to know what to do. By its very definition “to create” is to bring into existing that which is original, not previously seen or experienced, or significantly different than the past. To think mind knows is only an illusion. Mind only knows the past and what it has experienced. To create is to be outside what mind knows. Anything we think and believe about creativity, our creative ability and creative power, and/or how to create whatever we desire is probably in error. The question is, “How big is the error and how significantly different is what we desire to create from the past we experienced?” However, what does appear to be known for any creative endeavor is the overall creative process.

Accessing creative power (Top)

To access creative power there are several things that we can do. Probably the first is that we need to allow ourselves to become mindful and aware of what we think and feel in the moment. We need to become aware of the relationship between what we are feeling and the thoughts we are having. They are more connected than we can every imagine yet simultaneously more disconnected that we could imagine. Often what we think gives rise to what we feel is not the true cause.

We need to become aware of our belief structure. We need to become aware of what we really think and believe and understand why we think and believe what we do. Our belief structure and how we think acts both to filter what we feel and bias what we feel. How and what we filter and why and how we bias what we feel has a tremendous impact on the creative power we can access.

To access our creative power, we need to become aware of the creative/creation process, how Creation works and how we work. We each need to intimately explore our own inner world and develop and intimate relationship with our creative spirit.  No one can do that for us. We need to know what serves us and what a life worth living looks like to us for otherwise cannot access the passion and energy we need to create. We need to understand the life and what serves us is most probably unique to us and may not look like what serves any other.

To access and effectively direct our creative passion, we need to understand what we think and believe, how we think and believe and why. We need to realize and understand how it can be said we are the creator of our experiences and the reality of those experiences. In this regard, the more conscious creative ability we desire the greater the depth we need to explore these questions. The greater the creation, again, the greater we need to explore these questions. To be come aware and understand these things we need learn to observe and become the detached witness to see ourselves and the world as they are, not how we think they should be.

All the rituals, prayers, meditation practices, yogi positions, and education given to individuals tend to be based on what mind thinks. They tend to ultimately be based on ways of thinking that allow us to become excited and create feeling at some level of our being. Often what is give is given to create certain types and kinds of feeling or they are there to neutralize feelings. What is created depends on how our attention and awareness if focus by what we use. Often what is given to individuals is to control the creative energy individuals can access. In directing how and individual focuses their attention and awareness the creative energy that is released is direct into the service of the one who created the technique being used. Few are taught how to direct and control their creative life energy with their own thoughts. Few are taught the origins of their thoughts and to explore their own thoughts to understand why the get passionate about what they do.

All creative power starts with the inner creative power. We first have to feel the desire to act. We then determine through our creative ability whether or not it is best to access the inner creative power, outer creative power or a combination of both.

It has been observed most of us are not generally taught how to consciously raise the feelings within our being and what we can use to raise our feelings. Rather, the inner masculine is castrated by the enculturation and socialization process to direct our feelings toward what society finds acceptable.

Similarly we are not taught to look to see what really serves us and helps them to create a life worth living based on our own heart and the uniqueness of our being. Rather, most are taught to serve a system of some type - religious, spiritual, social or cultural. Rather than teaching us about our own creative spirit, how to access it and how to manage it, we are taught to follow whatever our “teachers” direct whether those teachers be care givers, social elders, state person or the like.

When we consciously know how to cause feelings to arise within our being where no feelings previously existed, we create something from a seemingly nothingness. In doing so, we have the key to our own creative power. Similarly, when we consciously dissolve feelings, we access the key to our own creative power.

The key to our creative power is to understand we have the ability to causes feelings of any magnitude to arise within our being. Similarly, we have the ability to dissolve the most passionate feelings and cause them to become nothing. That power lies within us. We can consciously choose to decided what we become passionate about. However, most of us operate from our nonconscious mind and our enculturation

Most of us do not consciously create feelings. For example to say we love someone or something is much different than having the feelings that go with such worlds. If people truly loved and created the associated creative passion, our lives and the world would be substantially different. Most of us feel and become passionate nonconsciously based on our enculturation and early programming. Or, we are drive to become passionate based on what the ego desires and what it wants and/or doesn’t want. Most of us are held prisoner to what we feel. Many deny the feelings we do have and try and suppress what we feel and end up developing addictions or addictive behavior. Few have been given permission to explore the feelings we have and look into their origins. Even fewer of us learn to create feelings as a detached witness based on conditions as they are and what we intend for our life. Yet this is where our real creative power lies.

Key to creative power (Top)

The key to our creative power is to understand, all creative action starts in, or with, our feelings. We need to feel something before we act to create. We have the power to create and discreate any feeling we wish. We can create the deepest feeling of love or the deepest feelings of hate or revulsion and we can discreate them when they arise. We create them and discreate them consciously and nonconsciously. The question we need to ask ourselves and pull the string to explore the answer to access this key is to ask, “Why do I have the feelings that I do as opposed to any other or why have my feeling about _____ left me?”

When we explore the true origins of our feelings or way we suppress feeling or what causes them to dissipate, we access the key to our creative power. In that awareness of why feelings arise and where they go, we hold the key to create and dissipate any feeling we wish, any time, anyplace. However, most of us really don’t want to know the answer to where are feelings come from and where they go. If we do, we have to become responsible for what we allow to arises within our being and what we allow to dissipate. Most importantly, we will feel we came here to do something and that will cause us to seemingly loose control of our life, at least from the view point of the enculturated mind.

Most of us suppress what we feel for we do not wish to face what those feelings mean for our life. Many of us end up with addictions rather than feel what we do. Yet, until we explore what we feel and understand their origins, we will not get creative control over our life and access the key to our creative power. Only we can explore our nonconscious mind to understand what is giving rise to what we feel. We can use the help of another but we must do the exploration.

The easiest way to explore our nonconscious mind is to create a clear intention for what we wish to access and then ask our intuitive guidance as to how to go about doing it. Then honor the intuitive guidance we get and pull the string as to why we get what we do and iterate the process as much as necessary until we find the answer. In doing so, we access the key to becoming a conscious creator. Until we do so, we will be continually recreating the past in a new way and be at the mercy of our past experiences. Our creativity will remain in a cage of our own making and we will live in a victim consciousness for we will have given away our creative power to our own past experiences.

The bottom line (Top)

In accessing and releasing the depth and breadth of our creativity and creative powers and creative ability the following needs to be understood. Our creative power lies in feelings, what we feel and what we don’t feel. Our creative ability lies in what we understand about our feelings and how Creation does or doesn’t work.

To access our creative power, we need to be open to what we feel at each and every level of our being. We need to become aware of what we feel subconsciously and/or unconsciously that may be directing us in life. We need to explore what methods allow the greatest feelings to arise within our being. For large tasks we need enormous feelings that will last years. For small tasks, we need only a little feeling. It is much like learning to fuel a rocket. We need to ensure it has enough fuel to last the journey we wish to take.

Each of us will need to spend some tome to do our own explorations and need to do our own experiments as to what our creative power and creative ability really look like. Otherwise, without the exploration, we will be unable to access the depth and breadth of our creative power and creative ability. How we choose to do our exploration and who we choose to help us is our choice.
