Meditation as used here is defined as the conscious focusing and directing of one’s mental attention and awareness in a particular way such as in a practice or process to achieve a particular defined end and to become mindful and aware of the thoughts and the actions one should take that do, and do no,t sever that end. It is to discover and explore one’s true nature at every level of one’s being; spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically to intimately know one’s self on each of these levels. The emphasis is on the focus in on one’s true nature as opposed to anything else. Or in other words, one’s true nature is the object or focus of the meditation, not the external world for it is in our true nature that we find and access our creative power and creative ability.

There are usually six primary ways in which you will see meditation used in creativity that implement this definition. .

One way is the most use meditation. It is to sit is some defined way holding a particular thought to manifest and experience of that thought. It is to turn a concept into an actual perception.

The second is to develop mindfulness and awareness of our thoughts and feelings.

The third is to center ourselves to be open and present to what is or what one is going to undertake. That is, it is to become centered in the moment.

The fourth is really a variation of the third and fifth which is to use meditation to calm ourselves and dissipate the “nervous” energy we may be experiencing.

The fifth is to use meditation with the power of clear intention and insert a defined thought, idea or concept after doing what is necessary to become centered in the moment then acting in response to the intuitive guidance provided.

The sixth is to use the focuses attention and awareness to develop a habit that becomes a subconscious or even an unconscious response pattern to life.

Meditation Techniques/Methods versus Exercises

The main difference between a meditation technique and a meditation exercises as used here is that the technique is something that we would use in a daily practicing again and again. The meditation method or technique is more about developing a habitual focus of our attention and awareness in order to create a particular end. To sit and observe our thoughts or to observe the space between thoughts would be more related to a meditation method or technique. Many yoga practices are meditation techniques or methods.

A meditation exercise is something that you do only once, a limited number of times, or infrequently whenever you feel you need to address the topic of the exercise. It is not something that you would be doing daily. The “Intention For Your Life As Told Through Your Creation Story,” the “Heart Meditation,” and “Omphaloskepsis Exercise,” are exercises we do only once or for special explorations. However, sometimes the exercise can lead itself to a daily practice on an individual basis. The calming exercise and centering exercise presented here could become a daily practice.

The meditation exercises presented here are to address specific issues and provide methods that has been used and can be quite effective. Clarity of intention will always help in these exercises so it is recommend you become very clear and focused on what you wish to create and why you desire to use the exercise provided here.

It is recommended you allows yourself to explore different techniques and methods and develop a daily practice that is effective for what you wish to create.
